Rachel Wright was born and raised in Austin, Texas.  Rachel received her undergraduate education from Texas A&M University, where she graduated cum laude in 2012 with dual degrees in History and Political Science.  Rachel went to law school at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law and became a practicing attorney in 2015.  She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, and is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts in Colorado. While in law school, Rachel competed in multiple moot court competitions and completed seven mock trials.  During her last two years of law school, Rachel worked as a law clerk at a medical malpractice defense firm.

Rachel is experienced in defending professional liability claims against physicians, nurses, physician assistants, accountants, and social workers.  So far, her practice has primarily been in Denver Federal District Court, defending medical professionals from malpractice and 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims of deliberate indifference to the serious medical needs of their patients.  Most of her other cases involved defending physicians from negligence claims in state court.  Rachel has experience winning oral arguments and written motions in federal court.  In addition to successfully getting claims against her clients dismissed, Rachel successfully maintained the confidentiality of her corporate healthcare client’s trade secret policies, procedures, and clinical protocols against challenge by opposing counsel.  Rachel also argued and subsequently received the first favorable ruling in Denver Federal District Court permitting defense counsel to request ex parte meetings with treating medical providers.  Carmody v. Mikesell, 2017 U. S. Dist. LEXIS 185991 (D. Colo. Nov. 9, 2017).

In her free time, Rachel enjoys gardening, skiing, attending her husband’s opera performances, and being walked by her 116 pound Great Pyrenees, Ghost.
